Uniforms

The uniforms of the Coast Guard Auxiliary should be worn with pride at all times, properly tailored and in good repair. RIBBON PRECEDENCE is every bit important as proper uniform usage, a guide reprinted from 'Navigator' (2013), can be found HERE (PDF; 974kb) and complete reference on the topic are available from the USCGAux Uniform Regulation Information Center which also includes links on procurement. The USCG Academy in New London has a tailor shop that services the Auxilarist uniform, but please note that name tape and devices should be brought in with the uniform as they not available at the shop, please CALL AHEAD to check their availability and hours.

Monthly Flotilla Meeting

Flotilla Meetings are the second Wednesday of the month, 7:30 PM at the Guilford Police Station Community room.  Rt. 77 and during August (Flotilla Summer Party) and December (Flotilla Change of Watch and Holiday Party). Email the webmaster if you'd like to join us as meeting location subject to change without notice.

Monthly Flotilla Member Training Meeting

Member training is discussed at the monthly meeting, whereas the topic, location and exact time are decided, and the agreed parameters are e-mailed to all members. Flotilla Member Training Sessions are normally held the third Wednesday of the month, following the meeting schedule, except for August and December.

On-line Training

Five training items that are mandatory and have, in the past, been presented to members is a classroom environment are now available on-line and each member is responsible for completing the training themselves.  Click here to get more information.

The Coast Guard Public Affairs Style Book (Revised 2009)

The purpose of this information is to standardize the use of words, phrases, titles, names, etc., that are frequently written in Coast Guard releases, captions and stories. The information should be used in conjunction with the most current version of the Associated Press Stylebook. The AP Stylebook does NOT take precedence over the Coast Guard Stylebook. For conflicting items always use the Coast Guard Stylebook.

Division Medical Information Form

To access the Division Medical Information Form click here. You must a completed copy of this form in your possession on all patrols. Failure to have this form may cause you to be removed from the patrol.

PRESS RELEASE - What if you call 911 and no one ever answers?

Starting February 1, 2009 that is exactly what will happen for boaters who have the older model EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons) that transmit a distress alert on 121.5 MHz or 243 MHzclick here to read the entire press release and also learn about 'Types of EPIRBs' presented by the USCG Navigation Center. If you have an emergency and need Coast Guard assistance, use VHF-FM Channel 16 (156.8 MHz), dial 911, or call your nearest Coast Guard unit.

Incident Briefing ICS 210CG Worksheets. Coxswains should print a copy and take them along on patrols.

ATON/PATON Worksheets

ATON and PATON Worksheets. When doing an ATON/PATON patrol, coxswains should print a copy of each appropriate worksheet, complete them and submit them to the FSO-NS. USCGAUX Clearwater FL shares a great overview of this type of patrol.

GAR Score Worksheet

Coxswains and crew members must download a copy of the GAR Score Worksheet which is needed to be completed by each person on a patrol before commencing the patrol.

Why complete forms documenting your activities as an Auxiliary member?

The Coast Guard both saves, and recieves funding based on Auxiliary performance. It has been estimated that each auxiliary hour is worth roughly $8 to the Coast Guard.

FEMA Tests

All members are required to complete IS-100, IS- 200, IS-700 and IS-800. To take a course click on the appropriate link below. FEMA hosts over 100 Civil Preparedness, Independant Study Courses online, they are cataloged HERE.

Once you have received an email from FEMA verifying that you successfully passed the test, send a copy of the email to the FSO-IS who will ensure it gets recorded in AUXDATA.

AUXDATA

All flotilla members are reminded to log into AUXINFO at least once every 30 days. Please verify that the information entered is accurate. If you have problems logging in, call or email the webmaster.

Insurance

Before going out to conduct Vessel Exams or Marine Dealer Visits or any other authorized Auxiliary activities, be sure to contact the FC, VFC, or appropriate FSO. This will ensure that you are fully covered by insurance in the event something happens.

Staff Officer Reports

All Staff Officers are reminded that their monthly report is due one week prior to the District Meeting (First Wendsday of the month). Please ensure that you submit this important report to both the Flotilla Commander, and your District Staff Officer.
